Lately, there\u2019s been a lot of talk about the importance of doing double-blind trails.<\/p>\n

Obviously, a double-blind trail is the one that ensures there is no kind of conscious influence from the guide or the accompanying people, but\u2026 does that mean they\u2019re the only truly reliable trails because, since we don\u2019t know the trail, we don\u2019t influence our dogs? Of course NOT!<\/p>\n

What\u2019s more: do you really think you don\u2019t influence your dog on double-blind trails with your assumptions (\u201cI thought it went that way\u201d), your poor reading (\u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019s working\u201d), or your conclusions (\u201cI think we\u2019re off track, I\u2019m going to stop\u201d)?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s why it\u2019s important that, before we jump into doing double-blind trails, we learn to read our dog by doing known trails first, and then start doing partial blinds, blinds with more or less help\u2026 and finally, once in a while, do a double-blind\u2014but making sure we\u2019ve really studied how to do them well.<\/p>\n
